City LinkVideo segments of some of our current and recent exhibits and artists talking about their works have been produced by CityLink, Sioux Falls' local government information cable channel 16. They are available online HERE. We thank CityLink for working with us on these public service segments.

Permanent Collection
The Visual Arts Center's permanent collection boasts more than 300 outstanding works by well-known local and regional artists like Oscar Howe and L. Lova Jones, as well as nationally known works by Henry Moore and Maria Martinez. Many pieces from the permanent collection are showcased in the second floor galleries.

Recent acquisitions include Charging Bison, a sculpture by one of America's leading African-American artists Richard Hunt. The sculpture may be viewed in the Paladino-Hohm Sculpture Garden, located outside the Washington Pavilion's north wing, during regular public hours.

Collectors Circle
The Collectors Circle is an education program of the Visual Arts Center that focuses on collecting art. We are planning these activities for Collectors Circle participants:

  • Monthly seminars on art and its care
  • In-depth tours of regional art museums
  • Opportunities to learn about the Arts Center's collection - its care, conservation and plans

The importance of the Center's collection has been recognized through a $5,000 grant from the South Dakota Community Foundation to implement the Collectors Circle, as well as to advance the holdings of the Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion.
To receive information about Collectors Circle programs, please call (605) 367-7397, ext. 2341.
