Our educational programming isn’t just for kids. Join us for grown-up fun!

Wine on the Wheel

All skill levels are welcome in this clay workshop where you’ll unwind and play in the mud. Clay hand-building and wheel instruction included. In addition to clay and glazes, we will supply wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages. Create your pottery during the first session then return the following date to glaze and create another piece.

Ages 21+

This experience is held on two consecutive evenings.

Floral Pounding: Notes, Totes and Tea Towels

Explore the ancient Japanese technique of Tataki Zome, crafting unique prints by transferring the colorful pigments of flowers onto fabric or paper. Choose one tote bag, two tea towels or 6 note cards.

About the Instructor: Alexondrea Thong Vanh

Alexondrea Thong Vanh is a local artist and performer. She is a graduate of both American Musical Dramatic Academy New York and University of South Dakota, where she holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Theatre. Alex originally turned to painting as a therapeutic coping mechanism and it blossomed into more creativity throughout her career. Recent works include exploration of texture and nature through impasto painting technique where heavy texture acrylic is shaped with various tools and the use of natural dyes and florals.

All the principals of drawing can be found in the human form. During this class, you will focus on movement, proportions, and anatomy while observing a live model.

Ozzy Ricardez received his degree in Fine Arts from Humboldt State University in northern California. In addition to his own studio work, he finds joy in helping young artists find their voice through his work with LifeScape, Boys & Girls Club and the Grupp Art Academy at the Washington Pavilion.

Erin Castle has been active in the arts industry of Sioux Falls for the past 20 years as a creator, curator and cultivator. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Augustana College in 2006 with an emphasis on painting and has worked in arts-based retail spaces ever since. Before joining the Washington Pavilion’s Visual Arts Center as a Curator, Erin served as the General Manager for Rehfeld’s Art & Framing.

Impasto is a technique used in painting where paint is applied thickly to a canvas and manipulated with brushes or palette knife. Explore this technique using heavy texture acrylic paint and a variety of sculpting tools.
