Join Us in Shaping the Future of Arts and Sciences

Enriching Lives. Educating Minds. Entertaining All.

At the Washington Pavilion, we believe in the power of delivering memorable experiences that entertain, educate and enrich lives. Our vision is to inspire lifelong discoveries and inclusive experiences that improve the quality of life for everyone.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Washington Pavilion is able to integrate art and science into the daily lives of thousands of people through high-quality programming, education and outreach. We are thrilled to announce our ambitious multi-year campaign to secure $30 million in endowment funds by 2030, and we invite you to be part of this transformative journey.

One Gift Can Leave a Lasting Legacy

In July 2022, the Washington Pavilion shared the exciting news of a philanthropic donation exceeding $1.2 million from the estate of Patricia Knutson, who included the gift in her will. With the Kirby Science Discovery Center as its benefactor, a portion of this generous gift was used to create a new immersive water exhibit, which we now call H2O Workshop.

Today H2O Workshop serves as the only water play experience of its kind in Sioux Falls. Visitors from all over the community and region enjoy a diverse and educational opportunity to learn about the phases of water through interactive water play features. Designed to captivate and teach, this state-of-the-art exhibit allows children to play, learn and grow through colorful elements like aqueducts, conveyors, river channels, fog mushrooms and much more.

H2O Workshop provides not only learning opportunities, but also a place to play and create lasting memories together. Without the generosity of donors like Patricia Knutson, these kinds of upgrades and additions would not be possible. Your support can add to the ongoing impact that our facilities have on each and every visitor.

To continue providing exceptional experiences and expand our reach, we need your support. Remembering the Washington Pavilion through a legacy gift ensures that our programs and services will remain viable for years to come. Our $30 million endowment will enable us to:

• Acquire and maintain state-of-the-art exhibits and programs that inspire curiosity and learning
• Expand our educational programs, ensuring kids of all ages and backgrounds have access to quality arts and sciences education
• Improve our facilities to provide a welcoming and accessible environment for all visitors
• Provide resources and opportunities for young artists and scientists to innovate and share their work with the community
• Build a sustainable future for the Washington Pavilion, ensuring we can continue to serve our community for generations to come
